STATEMENT

My need to photograph is rooted in a fascination with the still image as a representation of the subjective mind through its ability to visually interpret thoughts. I am interested in how this subjectivity on a greater scale affects social and ideological issues of our time. The resulting work is delivered through the use of a highly personal and conceptual framework, involving visual fragmentation and an often digitally manipulated aesthetic. An ongoing exploration of theories concerning problems of truth and representation thread my works together. I am pulled to examine social issues of contemporary culture. Yet I also desire to critically discuss the camera, and myself, namely how both maintain a non-objective nature that creates limitations on the accuracy and integrity of “documentation”. The camera is constant, and image making is my craft. I plan to further explore photography in this way, and as a platform to discuss the current state of humanity.
